BLACK HISTORY MONTH 2022
Dear Members of the Greek Community,
This month, February, marks Black History Month, a time of rejoicing, celebrating, and thanking the important individuals and events in the history of the African diaspora for all of their contributions and accomplishments within our society. To honor and celebrate this significant month, both Panhellenic and IFC want to give back, show our support, and bring awareness to this very cause.
The ongoing COVID-19 Pandemic has affected both our community and the Greater Seattle Area. That is why, for this month, we would like to invite you to join us in supporting our very own local Black-owned businesses! Over the next 2 weeks, both councils will be highlighting 6 businesses, 3 shops, and 3 restaurants, encouraging all members to take the time to explore these new businesses, place orders or purchase gift cards, and possibly even find a new favorite spot. Our goal is to recognize the contribution these shops have had on our local community and economy, as well as highlight the amazing work and stories of their fruition! As our community returns to full force, now is our time to reconnect, show up, and support our local community!
Please stay tuned to our Instagram pages, @uwpanhellenic & @uwifc, as both councils will be highlighting these businesses over the course of this month. It would be very appreciated if all of you, as members of our community, could help spread the word about this event by promoting it through both your own pages and your chapter’s respective parent clubs and alumni networks as well. Also, please feel free to snap a picture and tag us if you check out any of the spots, as we would love to share your engagement and involvement with these phenomenal places. Panhellenic and IFC are both extremely delighted and excited to share with you all these amazing shops, and hope you love them just as much as we do!
Linked here are the 6 businesses we have partnered with for this year, alongside a description of what they're about and their respective links!
