Kappa Alpha Theta was established in 1870 as the first Greek-letter women’s college fraternity. The organization was founded by Bettie Lock with the core values of personal excellence, friendship, sisterhood, scholarship, service, and leadership. The women of Kappa Alpha Theta strive to support members to learn, grow, and excel while maintaining a balance between academics, philanthropy, and an eventful social calendar. The Alpha Lambda chapter at UW has been a strong presence on campus for over 100 years, and has assisted many women in achieving personal and professional success.
